Cochrane London 2023: Forward together for trusted evidence

Launch of new framework to 2027 will build on existing work leading to consumer involvement throughout the entire process of research and dissemination of Cochrane evidence.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued updated recommendations on the induction of labour which is supported by evidence from Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth.

Only about 6% of the world’s population are native English speakers, and 75% of people don’t speak English at all. Many people do not have access to high-quality health information, because it is not available in a language that they understand. We translate Cochrane evidence to make it more accessible, and to reduce the linguistic barrier to global evidence-informed health decisions.

Drawing on experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the inaugural Cochrane Convenes brought together leaders in health research and health evidence to explore and recommend the changes needed in evidence synthesis to prepare for and respond to future global health emergencies. This report presents reflections and recommendations from seven roundtable meetings and incorporates points from discussions at the subsequent open plenary in October 2021.

Is ivermectin effective for COVID‐19? Updated Cochrane review ‘Ivermectin for preventing and treating COVID‐19’

A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the “Cochrane Iran Associate Centre” and the “Iranian Epidemiological Association” to expand the activities of the Cochrane Iran Associate Centre and to use the capacities and capabilities of the Iranian Epidemiological Association, in July 26, 2022.

We spoke to Cochrane Oral Health Author Terry Simpson about the updated review Treatment of periodontitis for glycaemic control in people with diabetes mellitus. He explains the results of this review and what it means for the research community as well as medical, nursing, and dental professionals - with thanks also to Josh Twigg, Ambrina Qureshi, Sarah Wild, Ian Needleman and Laura MacDonald.

The 2021 Journal Citation Report has been released by Clarivate Analytics, and we are delighted to announce that the Journal Impact Factor for the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR) is now 12.008. This is an increase on the 2020 Journal Impact Factor, which was 9.289.
